Simple self care tonight

It’s been a TRANSITION to go from a week of vacation back to a super busy week at work, and at the end of yesterday I was exhausted. As a preceptor to college and university students in the healthcare field, I try to focus a lot on self care as a professional.

This week, to practice as I preach, I put together a solid plan of self care and I’m so excited for it! Starting this morning I grabbed a coffee before work and planned to grocery shop after work. I not only did this but got to visit my parents for dinner which was wonderful!

Now I have groceries done, which is a soul sucking weekend chore for me , and tomorrow after I come home from brunch and a work event, I’ll prep my lunches for the week. This means on Sunday I have the FULL day to relax however I want! It’ll be a warm day so hopefully a nice walk somewhere and a slow morning with coffee and reading.

Tonight I’m extending the self care and having some soup in bed with a candle and a book. As I talk to my students, self care doesn’t have to be anything intense or special, it can just be something that warms your soul or makes you feel a bit more relaxed or organized !
