A little different than my usual post, so perhaps I’ll re-introduce myself if new humans find me!
Hi! My name is Kristina, I am an Occupational therapist from Ontario Canada! As much as my blog revolves mostly around my role as an OT, I am so much more than that and am trying to find my balance in this world. I have two cats, a wife, a love for nature and flowers, and for spending time with friends and family who love me for me. I work with children, teens and adults with varying abilities, and through my role have gotten support for my anxiety, and have discovered my various other needs that I share with my clients.

Something that I’ve realized in the last couple weeks is my interest in adding a non clinical role to my life so that I can share and educate others in a way that supports my personal life balance! I’m on a week off this week and although I could be absolutely resting all week, I want to make sure I set myself up for success as my new work year begins and also create opportunities for me to explore, create and build joy for myself!
I truly found my love for blogging (when I have the energy of course) and so today while reading, my brain was flying trying to find a topic to blog about that was a bit outside of all the heavy thinking topics I have started writing. I started googling ideas, and while usually “blog post ideas” come up with some pretty boring ones (in my opinion), I found the one below and it somewhat aligns with my week to come!
Set a milestone and start a 10-day challenge. Write a series of blog posts talking about it, and summary at the end of the challenge.
The day program I work at follows the school schedule, transition from summer programming to more structured “school year” programming in September. Because of this, I am still in that mindset that September is the start of a new year, which is a great milestone to attach to some of my goals! My big goal for the new year is going to be “creating, connecting and self caring”
So over the next 10 days, I am going to start working on this goal to try to get some positive self love habits going! Today will be day number one 🥰
creating, connecting and self caring
Day 1 : taking time to rest and reset
We’re up North until the end of the day today when we drive back home to return to the city for my wife to work tomorrow and me to run placement student orientation the day after.
Today is all about sun and family🌼 we’re spending the day by the river and I’m hoping to finish a book, spend the day just relaxing and not thinking about work (aside from the new work bag I spent half an hour searching for) 🩷 my biggest goal today is going to be just doing nice things for me and enjoy the Sunshine with my wife and her family
Ideas for tomorrow:
Tomorrow is a big KRISTINA SELF CARE day! I’m going to head out for a solo coffee date, do some reading, do my nails, perhaps start my gym membership if it’s too hot to walk outdoors, and get some flowers! I LOVE making special days for me so I’m excited to brainstorm some more ideas tonight on the drive home 🥰 My biggest goal is to get some physical movement in so my body can get back into activity routines 🙂
Challenge for you! If you’re reading this, what is your plan for self care for tomorrow? Will you take time to do something kind for yourself that is JUST for you? If so, what is it ! And remember, self care doesn’t have to be fancy, this can be something special like buying yourself flowers or setting time aside for something you enjoy… but it can also be having hair wash day, finally putting away all your laundry or going for a walk with a friend! Share below if you join in 🥰
