Quotes are something I use very often in my occupational therapy practice, and one of my favourite blogs focuses on different quotes each week. So I thought it might be interesting to have a series about different quotes that can be related to occupational therapy and various mental health aspects.
One of my favourite quotes from occupational therapy school is the one below:

One of the reasons I love this quote so much is because it represents one of the biggest values I have as an OT- quality of life. When I was looking into what I wanted to do in my future, I was really interested in health care. One of the big things I was pushed away from the profession by was being the source of negative news and being so limited in my role to help. As an occupational therapist, I always preach to my placement students that improving quality of life should be our main goal for our clients. Even if an intervention doesn’t go as planned, we can find a way to provide joy and improving life experience!
Whether it’s doing range of motion exercises while doing hand massages or dancing, to exploring interests and new hobbies to expand occupations, adding fun and luxury to my clients life is something I always try to add. I know that many of my clients don’t have many positives in their life at certain points in time, giving them these quality moments is so important to me.
Do you have any quotes that you love that fit into the occupational therapy world? What kind of things do you do as a therapist to add quality to your clients’ lives or wish you could add to yours?
