Each year it seems that life becomes more overwhelming, the world becomes more full of unrest and terror, and it becomes more overwhelming (in my opinion) to look into the future. I am someone that preaches protecting your mental health but also staying informed about current events and human rights, and unfortunately being aware and an advocate can be really difficult.
In the past I have written a post about making SMART goals, and how people often see goal setting as overwhelming (check out the post below if you’re interested).
This year I feel like goal setting has become even more overwhelming to me so I wanted to share one of the goal setting strategies that my friends and I are trying this year as a more fun way to goal set for a good year.
Tik tok is featuring so many of these cute goal punch cards as a crafty goal setting activity, you may have seen them while scrolling already! But here are my cards and some steps of HOW TO make yours too! There should never be specific rules you feel you have to follow when you are making goals, only things that you feel gives you purpose and things you want to do. However we set a rule which was to find goals that are achievable and enjoyable. If you take a look at my goals on my cards, they are things that would help me thrive but also help me feel joy and support my mental health despite the chaos of life.
- Make a little list on a separate piece of paper of all the things you want to try to complete this year.
- Cut out small sized pieces of paper or cardstock so they are big enough to write and doodle your goals on
- Look through your goals and decide on a way to make them measurable by setting a quantity for each one – you will be hole punching the cards when you achieve the goals, so for example, a number of times you’ll try a new craft, breaking up a monetary goal to smaller numbers you’ll be saving monthly etc.
- Decorate them however you like in a way that brings you joy!
- punch a hole to connect them all together with a cute ribbon
- Punch the cards as you complete your goal!
Remember, goal setting should be specifically to push you forward in life, and to feel good. Make sure your goals are about YOU and are meaningful to you specifically!
Good luck! Share if you are making your goal cards and what goals you’re setting!
